Hononegah board approves gas procurement authority, facility upgrades and applies for state maintenance grant

The Hononegah board on Nov. 19 authorized the superintendent to purchase natural gas under an agreement with NextEra Energy Services covering up to 60% of expected usage for up to 36 months at a rate not to exceed $5.95 per dekatherm. The motion carried unanimously.
Separately, the board approved multiple facilities contracts recommended by the Finance Committee: Fieldhouse track line striping from Kiefer USA for $33,580; science classroom gas-valve work from Ceroni Piping Company not to exceed $18,000; and a smoke detector proposal from Audio Engineering, Inc. for $30,040. The board also approved applying for the FY2026 School Maintenance Project Grant, a state matching program that provides awards up to $50,000 for maintenance or upkeep projects.
