Emergency Services: Cayuga County shifts to NERIS reporting, receives DEC rail HAZMAT deliverables

Shurtleff also said the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation posted final deliverables on March 6 after consultation with Cayuga County OES and Auburn HAZMAT concerning potentially impacted areas and rail response plans; those materials were disseminated to appropriate fire districts. He provided operational tallies for Jan. 1'March 10 (County coordinators dispatched 37 times, 23 potential/confirmed structure fires, 15 residential fires) and summarized an ice-jam flooding incident in Mentz (Jan. 24-30) that affected 14 homes and a village water treatment facility but did not lead to evacuations.
