Cayuga County approves $300,000 snow-and-ice budget increase after heavy winter

The Cayuga County Legislature on March 24 approved a $300,000 budget amendment to cover higher-than-expected costs for snow-and-ice operations on state highways.
Robert Shea, chair of the Planning and Public Works Committee, told the Legislature that the winter season ‘‘has been exceptional,’’ and that time-and-materials work reimbursable under State contracts exceeded prior projections by $300,000. The resolution increases both the revenue line for State snow-and-ice removal and the salt expenditure line by $300,000 and authorizes journal entries to effect the change.
The motion was moved and seconded and recorded as passed 'all in favor.' The Finance Director was directed to make the necessary accounting entries. The measure applies to State‑contracted snow-and-ice operations under the county’s Time and Materials Contract D040505.
