Nutter Fort EMS reports ambulance near-miss, new EMTs and county grant

During the March 10 meeting, EMS Supervisor Nathan Rohrbough reported that one ambulance in the fleet experienced a near-miss in February when it swerved to avoid a car that pulled out in front of it on Buckhannon Pike and struck signage; the ambulance is expected to be back in service next week. Rohrbough said the department has two new part-time EMTs and that call volume has increased recently.
Rohrbough told the council that the county is providing $17,400 as a grant for EMS equipment and/or training, and that a smaller amount will be allocated to the fire department. He and councilors said newer ambulances entering service should reduce maintenance costs going forward.
