Finance director: March showed $500,000 monthly deficit but county coding error may add timber revenue

Diana presented the March financial report: "For March, we received 9% of our apportionment, and we had more expenditures than revenues, about a 500,000 more," she told the board, and added that the district had $8,825,000 in the county treasurer.
She said the district budget increased this year to roughly $65 million and that the unreserved and designated balance was about 8.11% of the budget. Diana also reported a county coding error on a timber sale that could mean additional funds for junior taxing districts; she said the county accountant would send details and the district expected to at least make its budgeted $120,000 debt-service line and potentially see more funds.
On enrollment, Diana and staff reviewed April counts: brick-and-mortar averages were down about 33 FTE for the month, middle school figures held steady and Forks High School enrollment was near 208; staff estimated the May 1 total headcount would be just over 3,700 across district programs but noted the state's choice transfer system outage was slowing some approvals.
