Senior Juan Toronis credits ALE with getting him back on track to graduate

Juan Toronis told the board he switched to the ALE program as a senior after falling behind about 10 credits. "They helped me all the way through," Juan said, describing how the program kept him on task and off distractions so he could recover credits.
Juan said staff provided tailored work and new assignments as he completed classes: "Once I would finish a class, there they were giving me a new one to get those credits back up to make sure I was gonna be able to graduate." Board members and staff congratulated him; his mother and family members in the audience also praised the ALE staff.
Connie Riley, Juan's mother, told the board she advocated for her son and worked with ALE staff to secure a plan that helped him move from junior year insufficient credits to a June 14 graduation date. "I have fought and advocated for Juan's education," she said. "They came up with a great plan, and here we are. Juan will be graduating June 14."
