Resident urges council to review LifeRite enforcement and fee structure
Summary

During the citizens' opportunity period, Keith Hayes raised concerns about the LifeRite program and its enforcement. Hayes said he has researched the issue and plans to publish his findings: “I just want you guys to be on the right side of that change.”
He told council that, in his view and based on his reading of Oklahoma Supreme Court decisions, the fee structure “acts like a tax” and needs legal correction. Hayes said he would provide documentation to council and federal and state officials if necessary, but asked the council to address it first.
Council members thanked Hayes for coming forward and one councilor offered to meet and review the materials. The mayor noted the comment and the council did not take formal action under the public comment item (agenda rules prevent action on that item).
