Commissioners report on local programs, recycling question and senior services

Commissioners used their comment period to report local activity and upcoming opportunities. Commissioner Duane Morris listed meetings he planned to attend and noted available demolition grants through the North Central Regional Planning Commission. Commissioner Scott Mortimer described a visit to AVI in Delphos and work on museum memorabilia and classroom naming.
Commissioner Carla Grund reported on schools' budget discussions, a conservation district field day and a meeting with Public Works Director Chris Smith about establishing tire recycling. Grund said tire recycling could proceed in October if the county's revenue after the September tax distribution is sufficient. She also noted senior services activity: "approximately 1400 meals from the Golden Wheel were distributed during the last three months," and reminded the public that Aug. 21 is Senior Citizen Day and September is National Senior Center Month.
The commissioners agreed to schedule the Nov. 7 canvass for the upcoming election and discussed posting commission meetings online; County Clerk Tammi Cox said she was working on uploading recordings but a few issues remain to resolve.
