Ottawa County to seek sealed bids for specialized dump truck financing after on-site inspection

Ottawa County Public Works and vendor Master Tech Truck and Equipment briefed the county commission on Sept. 22 about purchasing specialized dump trucks. The commission inspected a vehicle in the courthouse parking lot and then moved to proceed "with sealed bids for financing for the dump trucks." The motion passed 3-0.
Dave Williams of Master Tech told commissioners the trucks under consideration are "the only ones of their kind" and noted the vendor’s relationships with KDOT and Nebraska’s NDOT for parts support. Williams also described Sourcewell, a national cooperative purchasing program that can offer pre-bid discounts. Commissioners discussed financing terms; Commissioner Carla Grund said she did not want to make interest payments for seven years and preferred a term of four or five years, a preference Public Works Director Chris Smith shared. The commission’s action authorized solicitation of sealed financing bids; no final financing agreement was approved at the meeting.
