Resident Gus Galvinson introduced the Lindstrom Fall Fika Fest, saying it will run Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with more than 30 vendors and six food vendors, and that Channel 5's Minnesota Live plans to feature the fest on Friday. "My name is Gus Galvinson and I live at 12885 Pleasant Avenue in Lindstrom," he told the council during open forum, and he asked residents to support the event and consider donations above expenses to benefit a water-tower fundraiser.
The council unanimously accepted a $480.62 donation from Boy Scout Troop 159 that staff said stemmed from an Eagle Scout project by Caden Boulpre to repair a bridge at Anderson Peninsula. Staff also said the downtown design committee's signage and furnishing guide will be presented in October and that a mural grant application to the East Central Regional Arts Council is due Oct. 1. Separately, over 20 people participated in a Beach Park planning event, and staff said the consultant hired to study building reuse had begun work.
