Sheriff Greg Robert said the government project had slowed due to land‑ and engineering‑related hurdles but staff had worked through issues and planned to issue three RFPs to allow bidders flexibility (options for steel or concrete structures and phased components including storage, a classroom/training space, and an optional add‑on). He said local construction firms had shown interest and that the RFPs should be out in a couple of weeks. The council approved the site‑plan review to allow the county to proceed to the procurement phase.
Sheriff Robert thanked city staff for their assistance and said he would return with further updates as the procurement process advances.
