Mayor Carl Bates presented phased plans for making City Hall compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, working from designs prepared by Len Anderson. The mayor said proceeds from the sale of the Kraft Building could fund the first phase and outlined how the work is broken into stages. Len Anderson answered council questions about the proposed phases.
Alderman Jeff Elliott agreed the building needs updates but said available funds are limited and suggested the matter be referred to the Building Committee because City Hall also needs a new roof. Mayor Bates accepted that approach and said he would circulate a memo notifying staff that the doors will be closed starting the next day for safety reasons.
