Superintendent Jonathan Armstrong reported several operational items to the Mount Carroll City Council on July 22. He said crews had difficulty unlocking pressure-reducing bolts and required a locksmith to drill them out; electricity testing at the sewer plant is ongoing and surge protectors are being monitored. Armstrong said the department priced a replacement garbage pump at approximately $1,907 and noted this is a budgeted item.
Armstrong also reported a leak discovered in Aspen Park that was located on a resident's side of the curb stop. He said the department plans to install two hydrants next week after locates are completed and requested permission to abandon a 4" water line serving the old school so a valve could be installed, which would avoid shutting down multiple blocks during repairs; council agreed to that approach.
