The Stephens County Board of Commissioners voted to authorize a two-year memorandum of understanding with Self Discovery 24 Incorporated to provide operational funding from opioid-settlement proceeds, staff told the board.
Staff introduced the item and said the organization "They're asking for a $150,000 for each year." The item was described as contingent on opioid funds being made available; staff and the county attorney reviewed the agreement and found it acceptable. A motion to approve the MOU and authorize the chair to sign was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Commissioners thanked the organization for its work. A member who made the motion said, "So appreciate the partnership though with, SD 24," and the board indicated support to move forward. The agreement will only take effect if the earmarked opioid funds are available as described in the MOU.
