The Quillayute Valley School District board voted to adopt the 2025–26 parent-student handbook, the athletics and activities handbook, and the employee handbook. Board members discussed limited substantive changes, translation into Spanish for the parent handbook to meet legal requirements, and minor eligibility and grade-check adjustments in the athletics handbook.
Superintendent Diana said the parent-student handbook will be translated into Spanish to comply with legal requirements: “We don't have it in Spanish. We're required to do that.” The board also discussed the district's cell-phone expectations during instructional time (no visible use during class, allowed at lunch) and agreed to monitor state-level guidance before making stricter local rules. Athletic staff were asked to present further details to the board in a follow-up session.
The handbooks passed after motions and seconds across separate agenda items; the athletics handbook was noted to align with WIAA code and the employee handbook will be paired with extracurricular coaching guidance.
