The Licensing Committee approved extended-hour conditions for two restaurants and granted a conditional 24-hour operating permit to Subway at 709 Western Ave.
La Esquina will keep inside dining until 1 a.m. and operate as takeout from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m., consistent with its original approval. The committee specified that any change in dining status would require a public hearing.
Subway’s manager, who identified himself as Jay, told the committee the dining room will be open 6 a.m. to midnight and takeout only from midnight to 6 a.m.; the committee approved that schedule with a 30/60/90-day review and asked the ward councilor to be a point of contact for neighborhood complaints. Vice President Hogan said the city will "check CAD calls" and may revert the license if issues arise.
