County hires Engineering Vision to reestablish missing section corners in Eel River Township

Allen County Surveyor Mike Fruchey requested approval of an agreement with Engineering Vision Inc. (EVI) to locate and reestablish true section corners in Eel River Township under Indiana Code. The contract is not to exceed $17,550 and Fruchey told the board that eight corners were acknowledged missing in Eel River Township and roughly 1,000 are missing across the county. The board approved the contract 3-0 on a motion by Ronald Turpin, seconded by Therese Brown.
Fruchey emphasized that section corner markers form the legal basis for land ownership and that the work will follow statutory requirements. The county recorded the agreement to proceed; next steps include field location work and reestablishment of monuments as required by state statute.
