Board approves 4% raise proposal for classified staff

A board member said of the proposal: "to give them a 4% cost increase would cost the district $5,966.91 to give every single classified employee a 4% raise." The motion to approve the 4% raise was moved and seconded and the chair announced the motion carried.
Board discussion noted the 2.6% IPD is already built into some contract language and that the 4% figure reflects an additional 1.4% on top of the IPD. Members emphasized the decision would be reconciled with the district budget prepared in July and that final payroll impacts would be managed within the next fiscal year.
