S1 told the board that certificated bargaining has begun, that the district has met twice and has sent its draft contract to attorneys for review. "They found a lot of little, like, WAC and RCW kind type stuff," S1 said, and reported negotiations are progressing amicably.
S1 also reported there are seven applicants for the principal position and one applicant for the superintendent position; she asked the board to discuss qualifications in executive session. The board moved into executive session to address the superintendent evaluation and candidate qualifications under the cited RCW. S1 invited S2 to join the executive session and the board extended the executive session time by 30 minutes before adjourning the public portion of the meeting.
No hiring decisions were made in public; the board indicated discussions and potential actions would occur in executive session as permitted by law.
