Commission approves plats, abatements, license renewals and community permits

The Brookings County Commission approved multiple land-record and regulatory items during its May 19 meeting.
Resolutions approved for recording and chair signature included: Resolution #26-18 (Plat of Lot 14A, Country Club Estates), Resolution #26-19 (Plat of Ponto Addition), Resolution #26-20 (Plat of Lot 15, Paradise Point Addition) and Resolution #26-21 (Plat of Lots 1A and 2A of Haffner Knoll Addition). The board approved Abatement #26-16 (Darlene M Kuechenmeister) for $115.76 and Abatement #26-17 (late elderly tax freeze) for $140.52.
Licenses and permits approved included renewal of Retail On-Off Sale Malt Beverage & SD Farm Wine Licenses for Danceland Campground and the Brookings Country Club; a Fireworks Public Display Permit for the City of Volga on June 12, 2026; a $500 donation to the Elkton Special Days Committee for a July 4 fireworks display; and a One-Day Special Events License for Lemke's Bar & Grill for June 12 at Bennett Barn after a public hearing in which owner Weston Byrd spoke and no opponents appeared.
