County Development Director Robert Hill told the commission on May 19 that the county will form a 765kV transmission-line subcommittee to review proposed transmission work.
Hill described the planned membership: one Xcel Energy representative, four county planning & zoning members, seven township representatives and two citizens. He said the first meeting will be June 10 at 9:00 a.m. and that locations will be announced; he also confirmed the subcommittee meetings will be open to the public. The board later appointed Don Degreef and Allen Jones to the subcommittee; the appointment of Allen Jones passed with one dissenting vote from Commissioner Kelly VanderWal.
Hill said the subcommittee will allow townships and citizens to participate in evaluating transmission proposals and to coordinate with utilities and county planning staff.
