The Clay County Board of Commissioners voted to reduce contract retainage on project SAP 014‑602‑031 to 1 percent.
County Engineer Justin Sorum told the board the Comstock urban reconstruction project encountered unique early challenges but, after completion of major work, the contractor (Saline Brothers) performed well. "The value of the work remaining is less than 10,000 and at 1% retainage would be withholding more than 40," Sorum said, explaining why a 1% retainage is appropriate at substantial completion. He noted the typical retainage is 5% until substantial completion.
Commissioner Campbell moved to approve the reduced retainage; Commissioner Ebinger seconded and the motion carried. No further conditions or amendments were recorded during the meeting.
