The Clay County Board of Commissioners adopted a proclamation recognizing August 2026 as Child Support Fraud Prevention and Collections Appreciation Month.
Social Services Director Quinn told commissioners the county handled 2,327 child support cases in 2025 and distributed more than $7,600,000 in child support payments. "For every $1 spent, we have collected $3.34," Quinn said, noting the department works with courts, state agencies and community partners to enforce support obligations and investigate possible public assistance fraud.
Commissioners praised the staff for program integrity and efficiency during brief discussion. Commissioner Campbell read the proclamation language to the board and Commissioner Ebinger moved to adopt it; Commissioner Baird seconded and the motion carried.
The proclamation directs county leaders to recognize the work of child support and fraud‑prevention staff and asks residents to thank those public servants for their contributions to children, families and the community. No formal follow-up action was recorded beyond adoption of the proclamation.
