Board accepts $600,000 CDBG award to benefit Crittenton Center

Woodbury County approved a contract with the Iowa Economic Development Authority to accept a $600,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that will be passed through the county to the Crittenton Center, a county staff presenter said.
Ryan Erickson, identified to the board as the presenter on board administration, said the IEDA awarded the grant following a May 20 public hearing and that the county will need to complete additional steps—most immediately a subrecipient agreement with the Crittenton Center and likely a contract with a grant administrator—before funds are released. “The Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded this grant in an amount of $600,000,” Erickson said. The board voted unanimously to approve the IEDA contract and authorize the next steps.
The board’s motion authorizes the county to serve as the recipient and to execute the required agreements to get funds to the Crittenton Center. Erickson described the contract as “step 1 in numerous steps” before disbursement, signaling additional administrative work ahead. The board took the action by voice vote with the motion passing unanimously.
