Fayette County to seek $700,000 in CHIP funds; county share proposed at $400,000

During a second public hearing May 4, Dale Hartle of the Ohio Regional Development Corporation presented the Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Program proposal and urged the Board of Commissioners to allow ORDC to file the application with the Ohio Department of Development.
"Fayette County is eligible to apply for $700,000, with $400,000 going to the County and $300,000 going to the City of Washington Court House," Hartle said. He summarized permitted activities and funding caps, including owner and rental rehabilitation maximum assistance of $85,000 per unit (including soft costs), homeowner repair and rental repair maximums of $30,000 per unit, and a proposed owner-rehab allocation of $406,000 under HOME/CDBG funding. HUD low-income limits cited for a four-person household were $68,150 for 80% area median income. The board authorized ORDC to proceed with the application prior to the June 24, 2026 filing date.
