Van Buren County supervisors approve dust-control vendor, four rural tax abatements and GASB75 valuation contract

The Van Buren County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 9 approved several routine but consequential administrative actions, including adding Midwest Dust Solutions of Garden Grove, Iowa to the county's approved list of vendors for gravel-road dust control, granting rural tax abatements on four residential properties (one each in Harrisburg, Jackson, Lick Creek and Van Buren townships), and authorizing a contract with The Howard E. Nyhart Company, Inc., to perform GASB75 actuarial valuations for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2026 and June 30, 2027.
Each motion was made and seconded on the record (minutes show motions primarily by Supervisor House and Supervisor Meek) and carried unanimously: Ayes: 3. The board also approved payroll and claims batches (payroll #50253-50335; claims #4984-5083 and related ACH items) and acknowledged a $254,644.00 transfer from the Rural Services fund to the Secondary Roads fund for the third quarter of FY2026 under Resolution #06-23-2025D. County Auditor Lisa Plecker is recorded as reporting and filing the transfer.
