DPW director: 95% of recycling barrels deployed; Casella to continue pickups until small barrels arrive

Tim Olsen, Hamilton’s director of public works, briefed the board on the town’s curbside recycling rollout and told members he believes roughly 95% of the new recycling barrels have been distributed to residents. "Right now, we've I think we've deployed about 95% of the barrels," Olsen said, noting that approximately 100 households remain on a list for the smaller barrel that exceeded the contractor’s original order.
Olsen said Casella has committed to continuing collection under past practice while the remaining small barrels are delivered and distributed. He estimated the small barrels could arrive "in a week or two" and said DPW maintains a running request list and pushes that list to Casella weekly. Rosemary Kennedy noted a COA volunteer, Kelly Roller, has offered to help seniors apply for the small barrel if they need assistance.
