County to review special‑events license ordinance after talks with library and city officials

Commission Department Director Stacy Steffensen told commissioners she reviewed state statutes and the county ordinance governing special-events licenses and explained that the commission sets the number of licenses available to any single entity each year as well as the fee schedule; she said a public hearing is not required where an entity already holds a license. By consensus the commission agreed to explore changes to the county ordinance if desired.
Steffensen also reviewed procedures for submitting resolutions to the South Dakota Association of County Commissioners (SDACC) Fall Convention and provided a list of upcoming administrative dates. No ordinance changes were adopted at the meeting; staff will return with draft options if the commission requests them.
