Commission tables a proposed Nextlink cell tower after resident request

Resident Mitch Taylor asked the commission to table the decision so more residents could learn about it. Aaron Judd of Nextlink described the tower, said the company’s business model does not allow co-location, and confirmed the proposed tower is shorter than a previously opposed tower and would not require an FAA strobe light.
Commissioners asked practical questions about fall zones and decommissioning; McQueen said if the tower were decommissioned it must be restored to preexisting conditions and that if it fell it would fall on the lessee’s land. Commissioner Duane Morris moved to table the special-use permit until Sept. 8, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.; the motion passed 3-0.
