Ottawa County to run homeland-security cyber tests; committee to draft risk-tolerance statement

Emergency Management Director Marie Ballou briefed the commission on an upcoming homeland security PEN testing project to assess the county's cyber defenses.
Ballou said she and Register of Deeds Shelby Walker have been coordinating required information and that the county needs to post a risk-tolerance statement and a mission statement on its website before testing can proceed. "Ballou will put together a committee to review the risk tolerance statement and mission statement and then represent it to the Commission," according to the transcript. Ballou said the testing team will present findings to the commission at a later date.
The commission received the briefing but did not take formal action at the meeting. County staffers will complete the documentation required for the tests and report back with results and recommendations.
