Lantana approves $45,582 piggyback contract for sewer pipelining in Sea Pines

The Town of Lantana on April 27 approved a piggyback contract with SAK Construction, LLC to perform trenchless sanitary and storm sewer rehabilitation — including camera inspection and cleaning — in the Sea Pines watershed. Funding of $45,582 for the work was included in the town’s FY25–26 public services budget.
Daryl Warren, the town’s utilities manager, told the council the contract covers video inspection and cleaning of the subdivision’s entire watershed to establish priorities for more extensive repairs later. “This particular contract is for the video inspection and cleaning of the whole subdivision, the whole watershed for Sea Pines,” Warren said, summarizing the scope and the need to segment work by area. Warren and staff said the approach will reduce the number of residents affected during repairs compared with prior, more disruptive open-excavation work.
Council members pressed staff about phasing and outreach; the town manager said a heavy public information campaign will be needed when work reaches neighborhoods. The motion to approve the piggyback contract carried unanimously, 5–0.
Implementation: staff said the work will begin with Sea Pines and proceed in phases; the town manager indicated any issues that arise later could be brought back to council for additional direction.
