The Cass County Commission convened a short work session on July 30, 2026. After roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance, the commission approved the meeting agenda as presented by recorded voice vote of "2 votes for 0 against."
During the session the Chair introduced Resolution 26-74, which authorizes an updated intergovernmental agreement with the U.S. Marshals Service for housing federal detainees. A representative of the Sheriff's Office described the change as an increase in the per-diem rate from $75 to about $97 per detainee per day and said no additional detainees were expected at this time. The commission voted 2-0 to approve the resolution. The Chair opened the public comment period; no public speakers were recorded. A motion to adjourn passed by the same recorded margin and the Chair closed the session with "We are adjourned."
