Aramark outlines expanded high-school food service, all-day cafe and student-run 'IH Blends' smoothie bar

Adam Loop, Aramark's food-service director, told the board that Aramark's menus "meet USDA guidelines for nutritional adequacy" and described a new high-school service model designed to give students more choice and faster service. "This all day cafe is gonna take place in the cafeteria, and we're gonna be open from 07:30 to 02:30," he said, adding that the vendor will post menus monthly and run annual student surveys to tailor offerings.
Loop described a student-run enterprise called IH Blends that will operate as a smoothie bar and receive mentorship and limited startup support from Aramark. "IH Blends is gonna be a fully self sustaining small business within Indian High School," he said, and Aramark will participate in a mentorship and administrative-support role. Board members credited Aramark with working closely with student projects and emergency feeding: one board member noted Aramark fed roughly 650 students during an evacuation caused by a false bomb threat.
Board members asked about the district's relationship with the National School Lunch Program and next steps for any change. Board members agreed to add the question to the operations committee agenda; the board noted the timing of any RFP decision would be next year and, according to the discussion, would only affect the elementary procurement.
