Douglas County sheriff: Crime 'very low' in Castle Pines; office adds deputies and traffic commander

Chief White of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office told council that crime levels in Castle Pines are low and that the department had prioritized staffing to assign deputies to the community. "We don't we have crime is very low in Castle Pines," he said, and described a bid process that produced six deputies selected to work the city on a rotating schedule.
The department also introduced Rob Rotherham as the new traffic commander assigned to oversee traffic officers and be a local point of contact for traffic issues in the city. The sheriff said the office plans operational traffic contingencies for major I‑25 incidents to prevent spillover traffic into the city and pledged to provide a video and further briefing at a future meeting.
Councilmembers asked for follow‑up about specific criminal investigations and were told the investigations division would provide updates in follow‑up conversations rather than in the public session.
