Council members voted to adopt a set of clerical amendments before final adoption of the zoning ordinance, including deleting a duplicate line item and changing a conflicting permitted-use table entry so that the maximum building area for specified mixed-use entries is 4,000 square feet rather than 6,000.
Staff counsel and the council explained the proposed edits were clerical and non-substantive, intended to remove contradictions in the permitted-use table and a duplicate numbered line. A staff speaker summarized the changes: "we're just making sure that the table doesn't contradict itself" and described deleting the row referencing 6,000 square feet and aligning the table with 4,000-square-foot limits.
One public commenter objected that reducing a retail cap could hamper business attraction, saying the change from 6,000 to 4,000 "cutting back on retail" could limit potential tenants. Council members countered that the 4,000-square-foot cap is consistent across mixed-use areas and appropriate adjacent to residential properties.
After public comment limited to the amendment, the council approved the amendments by roll call and then approved the ordinance as amended.
