Community Development staff updated the commission on staffing, a 9‑1‑1 readdressing project and short‑term rental compliance efforts.
Staff said a new code enforcement officer, Desmond Warren, will start on Aug. 10. On the 9‑1‑1 readdressing initiative, staff said conversations with DATAMARK are ongoing and a projected start date for the project is December 2026.
On short‑term rentals, staff reported 806 listings are fully complete and compliant under the ordinance, 781 are in the process of completing requirements, and 924 listings have been verified by third‑party scrubbing. Outreach letters have been sent (154 in June, 35 in July) to noncompliant hosts; year‑to‑date there have been 9 complaints in June and 11 in July, all resolved and no strikes to date.
Staff also told the commission that the memorandum of understanding with Lincoln County (which allowed the village to permit and inspect construction outside village limits) expired July 29, 2026 and was not renewed; as a result, permits for construction outside the village limits will not be processed by the village and staff are compiling answers about how that affects permitting and revenue.
