The board approved a contract with Stewart SLP, LLC to provide part-time speech-language therapy services for the 2026–27 school year after the district reported no qualified applicants despite active recruitment since May 2026. The chair explained that the contract ensures continuity of legally required speech therapy and compliance with students' individualized education programs (IEPs): "Proof of this contract will ensure continuity of legally required speech language services and maintain compliance with students' individualized education programs, IEPs, and applicable special education requirements for the 2026–27 school year."
Trustee Holder noted the vendor had been used previously without problems. The motion to approve the contract passed; the district will use the contract to fill gaps while continuing recruitment for a permanent staff SLP.
