The board approved awarding the 2026 rooftop unit replacement installation contract at Wilkinson Middle School to Macomb Mechanical Inc. for $100,517. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the award of a contract to Macomb Mechanical Inc in the amount of $100,517." Trustees asked whether a newly announced Michigan Department of Education (MDE) grant would reimburse the district and whether sinking-fund dollars could be reallocated if MDE fronts the money.
Superintendent Perry said the grant is expected to reimburse the district but that the district may need to front the work and seek reimbursement. "So the grant just came out last week... the grant is supposed to be reimbursing the district for the funding," Perry said, adding the district may ask MDE to front funds and then return reimbursed dollars to the sinking fund. The motion carried with the ayes prevailing.
