"We spend, between 800 and $1,000 on the loot," Tammy said, and suggested staff lead the parade rather than walking and handing out items at the end. Council members and planning staff discussed whether a private-property beer garden during Roundup would be regulated by special-event permits and zoning; planning staff (speaker 13) said a special-event permit can be a mechanism to manage activities on private property and that the code will be checked.
The council also discussed requirements used in prior events, including fencing specifications, controlled entrances and exits, security personnel and drink limits. Staff said they will research the permitting options and return with recommendations so the council can weigh community safety and fundraising considerations.
