Board approves joint transit procurement RFP and bids for Dana Lyons bus shelter

The board approved two transit items: authorization to participate in a joint procurement RFP for transit operations with Chemung County, the city of Corning and Steuben County Transit, and authorization to solicit bids for a replacement transit shelter at the Dana Lyons building.
"So this transit shelter will be placed over at the Dana Lyons building, since prior one was past its life expectancy and vandalized," Marie said, explaining the shelter would provide weather protection and the county plans to include solar lighting. Staff clarified that federal grant funds cover the shelter structure but not accompanying site concrete, which would require separate funding.
Marie said the joint procurement responds to recommendations from the Federal Transit Administration and recent reviews of Chemung County service. Both items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
