Wayland lands Bonitrans plant; $16.9M PowerUp grant to beef up electrical capacity

Jamie said the county/IDA secured a $16,900,000 PowerUp grant from the state to expand electrical infrastructure at the park. "We are working with NYSEG to actually construct a 6.6 mile dedicated line to the Wayland Industrial Park and installing a capacitor bank," he said, adding the investment would increase site capacity well beyond the park's original 2 megawatts and enable both Bonitrans and potential future growth. Construction and infrastructure work are expected to take multiple years, and the company is completing a tender process for engineers and builders before going to local approvals and construction later this year.
