The Westfir City Council voted on June 1 to approve Resolution 581, redesignating the Oakridge/Westfir Enterprise Zone and leaving the current zone map unchanged. The enterprise zone provides tax exemptions for qualifying businesses and has a 10-year designation period.
Councilors discussed the state-required school support fee; the council authorized the City Recorder to sign agreements with Oakridge, Lane County and Oakridge School District 76 to set a school district support fee of 15 percent in accordance with ORS 285C.067. Councilor Dylan Cheatham moved to approve the resolution and Councilor Deretta Huey seconded; the motion carried, 4–0.
