Megan Richards, a principal management analyst with the county administrator's office, led a live demonstration of the new solanocounty.gov and said the redesign was intended to make county information and services easier for residents to find. “So today's the day. I'm very excited to, we're very excited to be here today for the launch of the new solanocounty.gov website,” Richards told the board as she highlighted a cleaner design, a revamped search function, quick‑click cards for common tasks, and improved support for people with disabilities.
Richards said the project focused on accessibility and usability: the site was built to WCAG 2.2 AA standards, includes automatic translation into the top local languages with the option for manual, localized translations, and offers an interactive county calendar and emergency communication features tied to Alert Solano. Board members asked about in‑person directions (for example, which floor to visit for vital records) and payment security; Richards confirmed the payment portal is integrated but separate and secure, and staff agreed to add clearer floor and in‑person instructions. The board thanked staff for the multi‑department effort and noted plans to add links to the PulsePoint and other emergency apps on the new site.
