City administrator and mayor announce parking closure, rescheduled fireworks and community events

Administrator Zelms told the council that the Civic Center North parking lot will close starting Aug. 15 to make way for nearby development and advised the public to use Civic Center South east-lot parking. He also announced the fireworks show will be rescheduled to Sept. 4 at Soldier's Field Memorial Park and will begin at 9 p.m., and noted an Aurora lights presentation at the public library auditorium on Aug. 10.
Mayor Norton noted National Farmers Market Week and said the city received a $50,000 grant that will support a global farmers market event at MLK Park on Aug. 7; he urged residents to vote in the Aug. 11 primary and highlighted neighborhood "Night to Unite" and Safe City Nights events. The administration encouraged residents to consult a QR code linking to the secretary of state's voter lookup to find precinct and ward information.
