Council approves $368,000 change order including $303,000 for skate-park enhancement

City staff presented Change Order 21 with Aldolpho and Peterson Gulf States in the amount of $368,000 for work on the sports-park and Recy Davis Recreation Center projects. "The biggest item is 303,000 for the skate park enhancement, and what that's gonna be is the hardscape and the landscape around the skate park," the presenting staff member said.
Staff said roughly $303,000 of the change order will come from Parkland Dedication funds and that roughly $50,000 will go toward building work; the presenter said the city would still retain contingency funds (he referenced "about $666,000" remaining). Council discussed why change orders arise on complex projects, then moved to approve the change order by motion.
Council members praised staff transparency and noted project progress; staff said the project remained under budget and on time as of the meeting.
