Resident and planning commissioner urges quicker posting of committee minutes and recordings

James Evans, who said he serves on Planning & Zoning and the substandard structures committee, told the council constituents are asking for timely access to minutes and committee videos. Evans said delays in posting minutes and recordings make it harder for residents to understand what commissions decide and how items like the solar farm were handled.

“Let’s start televising and making minutes available, not months and weeks later,” Evans said, calling for more immediate public access to committee meetings and encouraging the city to use existing camera infrastructure to publish recordings close to real‑time. He said that greater transparency would help the public follow deliberations and reduce confusion about important land‑use topics.

Council members acknowledged the request and discussed options for copying the city secretary on constituent emails and improving notice procedures for commission videos and minutes.
