Lenox resident praises road stewardship, questions distribution of raises

Stever said she valued stewardship and welcomed recent raises for county employees but questioned how larger raises were awarded, suggesting that raises above a standard 3% should be singled out for review to confirm merit-based justification.
"I just wanted to give a shout out to Terry... I think stewardship is a really important thing," Stever said, and later added that it "seemed like it was based on external factors not necessarily the hard work" when one person received a $25,000 raise while others received smaller percentage increases. The comment prompted no immediate change in policy but the speaker asked the board to consider review procedures for outsized raises.
