Commission approves land-exchange to resolve North Broadway parcels ownership and add county tract to tax rolls

Dilts said the RFP solicited monetary and property-value offers and that the county received one response proposing an exchange of 9.8 acres in West Central, offered “as is” by TJ’s and Moore LLC with a value estimate of about $541,000.
Dilts told commissioners the committee recommending the exchange believed it would (1) return the county parcel to the tax rolls and (2) allow the county to prevent development between two waterways and connect the parcel to adjacent public land. Chairman Beatty and other commissioners voiced support; the board moved, seconded and approved the staff‑recommended action.
Dilts noted practical conditions—including the need to work with the Kansas Historical Society and KDOT if the Chisholm Trail marker must be moved—and that the property was offered via quit-claim deed "as is." The board did not identify a buyer price to be recorded in today's minutes; the motion approved the exchange as presented.
