Mister Godfrey urges board to publish applicant lists after job posting changed

Mister Godfrey told the board he applied for a posted opening for an English language arts/social studies teacher at Pendleton County Middle/High School and said the posting changed within 12 hours of his application, which he found suspicious.
"At 09:00 on Friday morning, it had been changed to just English," Godfrey said, describing how the listing reverted later and noting the job number remained the same. He said the timing led him to believe "somebody was already in mind" and urged the board to give members access to applicant lists or have a board member attend interviews so trustees know who applied.
Godfrey offered two remedies: have a board member present during interviews to ask board-driven questions and report back, or provide the board a list of applicants a few days before meetings so trustees can ask why a recommendation favored one candidate over another. He framed his comments as an appeal for transparency, not a personal grievance, and closed by urging the board to consider those procedural changes.
The chair thanked Godfrey for speaking and moved on to the next agenda item.
