Iroquois County Board appoints Kenneth Baier to fill District IV vacancy

The Iroquois County Board on April 14 appointed Kenneth Baier to fill the District IV vacancy left by the death of Scott Watts. Chairman Paul Ducat presented Resolution No. R2026-20 and County Clerk Breein Suver explained the appointment covers the period from April 14, 2026 through the Sunday before the first Monday in December 2026; the remainder of the unexpired term will be determined by the November 3, 2026 general election.
The motion to approve Resolution No. R2026-20 was moved and seconded and carried by roll call vote. The roll call recorded Ayes from Alt, Bakken, Bard, Behrends, Bence, Crow, Ducat, Grant, Huse, McGinnis, Munsterman, Perkinson and Whitlow; Williams was absent. Baier will fill the seat and was assigned to the Management and Planning & Zoning committees as noted later in the meeting’s appointments.
The board also recorded the statutory basis for appointments to fill unexpired county elective offices, referencing 10ILCS 5/25-11 as the authority for filling vacancies by appointment of a member of the same political party.
